Hello all –
Wow, the board is winding down with only one more show left. It is hard to believe that we are starting to focus on the banquet and year end prizes. This has been an incredible year, culminating with our most recent Summers End Show, which we suspect was the most highly attended show of all time at Harmon Field. None of this would have been possible without a lot of help from many volunteers over the past few years. We want to thank all of you for making our shows fun and full! Harmon Field is going to continue to be a busy place! 2009 is shaping up to be another exciting year with more shows offered close to home!
We are tooting our own horn a bit, but we want to let you all know about the accomplishments this year from our all volunteer Board of Directors. We have a wonderful new web site that is updated regularly and easy to use! The BRHJA BUZZ is our new blog to keep everyone up to date on any important information. It's a great way to stay informed and feel like a community!
The improvements to the facility include a new judges stand built for the TR&HC Ring, new footing in the Spencer Ring, a new announcers stand with the old judges stand, and a longing pad. We have worked hard as your board to improve the facility and provide wonderful shows. Without all of the exhibitors, sponsors and other volunteers we would not be able to continually improve Harmon Field.
We have an ambitious wish list for next year that will include leveling some of the stalls, fencing the schooling area, a road frontage fence, more shade trees, more bleachers, and improving the sprinkler systems.
We also would love to hear from you all. Please comment on this blog or email Ashley (agoodhorse@bellsouth.net) with any compliments, complaints, suggestions, etc. It is your field too and we want everyone to enjoy Harmon Field.
Thanks for a great year so far!!!!!

Hi all, First I want to commend everyone on the board and the volunteers for making this show season a successful one thus far.
I just wanted to bring up a couple of things that is a concern of mine and other's whome I have talked to. First, I noticed BR has gone up on show prices that BR puts on. We can show cheaper at a PSJ show than at a BR show. I would like to show both days duriing your shows but many times I chose to show one day because of the price, however, for the most part of this year I have hauled my neice to show both days for the sake of points but we have opted to only do the medal class rather than a division plus the medal because of the price. It's hard all the way around with the economy the way it is, especially for those who do this as a hobby not as a job.
Also, I would like to suggest that instead of champion prizes, other than ribbons, you save that money spent on those more expensive prizes and take that off of the exhibitors expense of the show. I have asked others and they along with myself wouldn't mind not having those prizes for a cheaper show bill.
Thanks anonymous! Truly, just the sort of conversation we've been hoping for since we put this blog together!
We do understand the issue, and while we aren't going to reduce prices for the Classic, we are going to fully review it before our first show in March.
In the meantime I do invite anyone who has opinions on this to air them out as you please right here on the Buzz.
